GEORGE NEWS – In February 2012 the George Business Chamber engaged with Richard Shumi, chairperson of the Thembalethu Business Partnership, a newly formed business organization to find ways to create business opportunities in George.
The economy of the country was experiencing the dire effects of the recession. This and the alarming rise in unemployment figures highlighted the need to expand business opportunities and markets, especially in the SME sector.
The decision to encourage businesses to support each other in various ways was made, hence the engagement with the Thembalethu Business Partnership. The first informal interaction between the chamber and the members of the Thembalethu business people was to host a networking evening, which was co-sponsored by Algoa FM. The evening was very successful and saw 220 business people from the George Business Chamber and the Thembalethu Partnership in attendance. (more…)
